AIM OF PROJECT:

To improve access, & address gender gaps & rural urban disparities especially in rural areas of Sindh by providing sufficient number of elementary schools  for girls in prioritized districts of Sindh.

  • Project for up-grading Primary Girls Schools into Elementary Schools in Rural Areas of Sindh (Assisted by JICA) (58 units in 12 Districts).

  • ECNE approved the project on 07-10-2013 at cost of Rs. 2076.979 Million (JICA Share Rs. 1667.962 million Sindh Share Rs. 409.017 million)
  • Japanese Cabinet Approved Grant Aid on December 6, 2013.
  • Government of Sindh issued Administrative Approval on 06-01-2014
  • Date of Completion of Project 30-06-2017.
  • Sponsoring Agency JICA & Education & Literacy Department Govt. of Sindh.
  • The Grant to the Government of Pakistan in accordance with the Grant Agreement signed on February 11, 2014 between JICA and Government of Pakistan.
  • Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh signed Agent Agreement on February 26, 2014 with JICS for procurement of services under Japan's Grant Aid for Community Empowerment for the project.
  • JICS completed all basic work (Drawing, Design & Procurement).
  • Main Components of Project:
    1. Construction of Classrooms, Lavatory Blocks, Compound Walls, Furniture & Equipments (Computer)
  • JICS issued letter to concerne for the construction work of following schools (Lot - 1), for the commencement of construction:

  • This Japanese Grant Aid Assistance will allow us to complement Government of Sindh’s efforts for "achieving universal and free primary education by 2015, as has been specified in the Millennium Development Goals.
  • The Government of Sindh, Education & Literacy Department, has committed to:
    1. ensure that project is completed within the agreed time frame;
    2. sufficient number of teachers are deployed at the schools upgraded under Japanese assistance; schools remain fully functional with increasing student enrolment; & sufficient funds are allocated to the schools for their regular operation & maintenance.
