CIF- Briefing Session with District School Directorate Mirpurkhas

The Sindh Curriculum Implementation Framework (CIF) briefing session was held at the State Life Auditorium-Mirpurkhas on the 28th of August 2015. The session concluded the Education and Literacy Department’s drive to orient the DSE’s on the notified Curriculum Implementation Framework.

The department was represented by Syed Zakir Ali Shah, Abdul Majeed Bhurt, Ghulam Asghar Memon and Dr. Fauzia Khan along with technical advisor, Mr. Ejaz Shah. The session was attended by personnel from the Directorate of School Education-Mirpurkhas and included Directors, DEOs, TEOs, H.M.s, Teachers and representatives of the Media.

The session followed the theme of previous sessions by first building context for the Curriculum Implementation Framework (CIF) in light of the 18th amendment and then highlighting role of the DSEs in the devolved environment with respect to curriculum implementation.

The main role of DSEs revolves around monitoring curriculum implementation and sharing feedback for further reforms. The DSEs have to play a key liaising role between their respective jurisdictions and the department by providing visibility on on-ground implementation through timely data reporting. In this regard, an overview of the role of Monitoring & Evaluation Department was provided along with an outline of the future initiatives.

Participants were also informed about various trends and innovation in the area of curriculum as precursors to future practices which can be adopted locally as well. This included a trend towards decentralization, coherent job descriptions, focus on contextual factors apart from schools and a paradigm shift towards national standards.
